Are you a young African leader, passionate about the development of your continent? The Mandela Washington Fellowship programme offers you a unique opportunity to train in the United States and develop your leadership skills.
High-level training for young African leaders
Each year, this prestigious programme selects 700 talented young people from sub-Saharan Africa to take part in intensive training at American universities. The training aims to enable young people to develop skills in leadership, business, civic engagement and public service.
Eligibility criteria
The programme targets young people in sub-Saharan Africa between the ages of 25 and 35, regardless of race, ethnicity, colour, national origin, gender, age, religion, geographic location, education, income, socio-economic status, ability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by U.S. law.
They must have a command of the English language and demonstrate a commitment to public or community service. Over a six-week period, they will learn practical skills that they can put to use in their community or country of origin.
