Training in forest traceability
Sustainable and responsible forest management is one of the challenges facing the forestry sector worldwide. Illegal logging, non-payment of taxes related to timber production, unequal distribution of financial resources from timber production are all weaknesses identified in this sector.
In order to address these weaknesses, the data monitoring of timber harvesting processes has emerged as the appropriate solution. It allows the measurement of the real production of forestry operators, which makes it possible to secure the revenue from forestry activities. In addition, it integrates the requirements of legality and certification and needs to cover all the activities of the timber sector.
Hence the interest in having a traceability tool capable of reporting on what is done from the forest to the final consumer or at least to the timber processor. This tool must allow :
- Identify all the trees in the forest
- Record the data related to the inventoried trees on a medium that is itself traceable (the smartphone)
- Evaluate losses
- Optimise the management of the activity
- To determine the circuit of the logs from the source of supply to their final destination
The Pallitracks software was designed with this in mind, and many companies concerned with good forest governance have adopted it. The software requires a familiarisation process, hence the user manual which has been formulated to enable users to familiarise themselves with the tool.
In addition, certification training courses are available and given by experienced trainers with a diploma* awarded after an evaluation. These courses are :
- Modular, i.e. you can select the software modules that interest your activity and on which you wish to be trained
- Personalised, i.e. adapted to different profiles depending on the position held by the learner,
- Standardised, i.e. following an identical protocol in all countries.
* Only learners with a 100% score in the assessments receive their diploma.
