The Francophony Institute for Sustainable Development (IFDD) grants financial support of 2.7 million euros to Cameroon and the DRC

These funds will be used to finance the implementation of two laboratories for the production of innovations in renewable energy and waste recovery.

Awarded innovations

Nine projects from these two Central African countries will be financed by IFFD through the Project for the Deployment of Environmental Technologies and Innovations for Sustainable Development and Poverty Reduction (PDTIE) in the Congo basin.

These projects include:

- The Institute of Agricultural Research for Development (Irad), which obtains a grant of 180,000 euros for its initiative to improve family farming production and reduce poverty,
- the University of Kinshasa in partnership with the Catholic University of Graben based in the DRC, which aims to set up an inter-university green innovation cluster to fight antimicrobial resistance, funded with 175,000 euros
- the project for the dissemination of technologies and innovations for sustainable development through forests and rural development, headed by Cameroon, which will receive 150,000 euros. It will be supported by Ecosystems and Development (CMR), Synergie des amis du Kivu (DRC) and the Fund for the Promotion of Congolese Agripreneurship (DRC), among others.
Prior to these projects, two ideas aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change had been selected last February during the call for projects launched by IFFD.
