Ghana to host future African headquarters of Microsoft, Amazon and Apple
Multinationals are increasingly convinced that the next playground of the global economy will be Africa. While some of them already want to establish a presence on the continent, the choice of country is not yet made.
The Ghana Investment Promotion Center (GIPC) is pushing to host the African headquarters of multinationals such as Microsoft, Amazon and Apple on its soil. This is what Yofi Grant (photo), managing director of the GIPC, said at the US Ghana Business Forum last week.
"We are talking to some of the big American companies [Microsoft, Apple and Amazon in this case, editor's note] that we believe should be present in Africa now to prepare for the future ... We are creating the space for them to operate effectively in an emerging and very strong African market," he said.
If this desire of the GIPC becomes a reality, these technology giants will join Google and Twitter, which have already opted for the former Gold Coast, to establish their regional headquarters.
Note that through the Ghana CARES Obaatanpa program, the country is establishing an attractive ecosystem for the development of the digital sector.
