To comply with the regulation, MTN transfers to Camtel its portfolio of wholesale Internet customers

 

The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications (Minpostel), Minette Libom Li Likeng, presided this April 15 in Yaounde, the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between MTN Cameroon and the public telecoms operator Camtel, on the management of "wholesale" customers of Internet.

"This memorandum of understanding aims to implement the conclusions of negotiations between MTN Cameroon and Camtel, on the management of wholesale customers, for a compliance of both operators, the regulatory framework in force in the field of transport, where only Camtel to date is a title holder, "explained the Minpostel.

Thus, through the protocol signed between the parties, MTN Cameroon undertakes to terminate within four months, after the signing of the agreement, contracts with the four customers (including the most important is Creolink) wholesale that are currently in its portfolio. And for its part, Camtel will have to provide the customers concerned, a level of quality of service at least similar to those previously provided by MTN, as annexed to the memorandum of understanding.

According to the explanations of Minpostel, the wholesale activity or wholesale market aims to enhance the value of network assets, selling wholesale traffic, interconnection, and leasing infrastructure on fixed networks (copper and fiber) and mobile. This activity, according to the ministry, will strengthen the productivity of the national incumbent.
