Fintech: the Wadivo web application stands out from the crowd !

Wadivo is a web client application designed to help African consumers recover various assets in Central and West Africa. It provides them with market information, particularly in the banking and telecommunications sectors.

How does it work ?

Developed by the eponymous start-up, it defends the rights of individual consumers or customers. By registering on the platform and accepting the terms of the contract, customers give Wadivo a mandate to negotiate the amount they are claiming from the banks

Subsequently, "if the transaction is successful, or if the bank pays the amount claimed following a court ruling, the customer will receive the refunded amount in his account, and wadivo will receive the margin by bank transfer to his company account".

There is no charge for using Wadivo; the company is paid on the basis of the margin between the amount claimed and the amount reimbursed. For its experimental phase, the application is being launched in Cameroon. If you have a claim, you will need to be a customer of a bank based in Cameroon to benefit from the services offered.

What you need to know

Cameroon's decree no. 000005/MINFI of 13 January 2011 establishing the Guaranteed Minimum Banking Service stipulates that banks must not charge customers, either directly or indirectly, for current account management, for services such as issuing savings books, consulting the account on the spot or transferring funds from one account to another.

However, in practice this is not the case, as many banks still charge for these services without consumers' knowledge. The Wadivo platform intervenes to enable consumers to recover the funds arbitrarily deducted by banks.

To claim reimbursement of account maintenance fees wrongly levied by your bank from 2018 to 2020, you need to register on the platform, and then fill in the claim form. The information you need to provide is :
- the name of the bank,
- the amount of the monthly bill,
- proof of billing, such as a page from a bank statement for the period in question.

The closing date for registrations is 15 July 2023.
