When digital technology contributes to the development of agriculture in Vietnam
The use of digital technology in agriculture has led to better working conditions for farmers.
Smartphones have been made available to farmers working for agricultural companies to help them work in the field. The use of QR codes and stamps has ensured the traceability of agricultural products and increased the value of these products for consumers.
This initiative has had a direct impact on the production and consumption of food products. According to the studies conducted, additional efforts should be made by the various actors to increase the rate of digital coverage in the agricultural sector, and especially to support producers in selling their products in all seasons.
In this respect, some actions can be noted, notably those of the company Grab. Grab is working with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance to encourage farmers and cooperatives to improve their digital transformation capacity.
Members of nearly 800 cooperatives have been trained to use digital tools to promote and sell their products online (e-commerce) in order to limit losses in the event of large harvests and increase their income over time. For example, several businesses in the Mekong Delta region have worked with bloggers to promote the fruits of their hard work.
