The LAWA program : an opportunity for African women
The Leadership and Advocacy for Women in Africa (LAWA) program offers a unique opportunity for African women wishing to strengthen their human rights skills for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The program was initiated by the African Development Bank (AfDB) in partnership with Georgetown University Law Center (USA). It targets African women lawyers wishing to deepen their knowledge of international women's law and contribute to their country's development.
Selected candidates will benefit from 14 months of high-level training, enabling them to acquire the tools they need to defend women's rights and promote gender equality on the African continent.
At the end of this intensive program, the scholarship holders undertake to return to their home countries to apply their new skills and contribute to the emancipation of African women.
How to apply ?
To apply, candidates must be African women's rights lawyers, hold an LL.B. or other law degree, with a preference for those currently living and working in Africa, be proficient in English and have relevant professional experience. Applications should be sent by e-mail to morrisjc@georgetown.edu no later than January 19, 2024.
