PS5 : Sony confirms online sales only, no in-store console
The release of the PS5, scheduled for 12 November in the United States and Japan, is fast approaching. On this subject, Sony has just confirmed that no PS5 will be available in shops on the day of launch. The console will only be available through Sony's reseller partners.
On the Playstation Blog, the manufacturer confirms that no console will be available in shops in all regions of the world, "to ensure the safety of players, our retailers and our staff from Covid-19″.
The Japanese company continues : "Don't plan to camp out or queue at your local dealer on launch day in the hope of finding a PS5 console to buy. Be careful, stay at home and order online". In its statement, the manufacturer assures that pre-orders can be picked up on time on the day, adding that the conditions for collection should be discussed with dealers.
Some companies such as Fnac, Micromania or Amazon have already started to contact their customers. At the moment, the PS5 is still out of stock. However, we must keep hope for those who would like to buy the console at the end of the year. It is possible that resellers will be restocked, especially at launch.
