YouTube offers new features on its mobile application

YouTube is in the process of making changes to its mobile applications, as well as a new interface. The video hosting platform is planning a gradual implementation of these improvements, not all of which should be available immediately. The aim is to provide a better user experience, reports 01.Net.

The first change was implemented last May. This is the chaptering function, which allows the Internet user to scroll and select a chapter of the video being viewed. Each chapter has a thumbnail and a title.

Modified functionalities

YouTube has also modified some of the features already present, which are now easier to access. This is notably the case for the display of subtitles, available thanks to a transparent button at the top right of the player. The option to enable - or disable - the display of the next video is now available in the same way.

The site also includes new navigation gestures, in particular to switch the image to full screen. To do this, simply slide your finger up when viewing in portrait mode. The full screen can be exited by sliding your finger down.

Actions suggested by the platform

Suggestions for action should also be made to Internet users, such as rotating a device or playing the video in virtual reality. For video addicts, YouTube plans to set up a reminder to invite users to close the application before going to sleep.
