Y'ELLO Digital Talent opens its doors

Under the patronage of the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, the MTN Foundation is organising a programming competition for Cameroon-based universities and colleges with options in computer science and technology.

Officially launched on December 09, this competition aims to involve young academics in brainstorming and finding optimal and effective solutions to development problems in Cameroon.

The theme chosen for this year's edition is The development of digital solutions in education. Indeed, distance learning has become a "must have" in education, since the closure of schools in 2020 in response to the COVID 19 pandemic.

Participants will be asked to design digital applications to improve the distance learning experience in Cameroonian schools. The solutions can be used by both teachers and secondary school students, with a focus on the online availability of local educational content.

Registration for the competition is free and open to all public and private universities in the country. The first phase of the challenge will take place at regional level. This will be followed by the national final, organised for the regional winners.

From 23 to 28 January 2023, the regional finals will be held, while the final and prize-giving ceremony will take place on 10 February 2023.

The winners of the 10 regional finals will each receive 1,000,000 FCFA. For the national final, the prizes are distributed as follows :

  • 1st Prize: XAF 2,500,000
  • 2nd Prize: XAF 2,000,000
  • 3rd Prize: XAF 1,500,000
