The Koffi Annan Global Health Leadership Programme 2024/2025 is open
The Koffi Annan 2024/2025 Global Health Leadership Programme, initiated by CDC Africa, aims to train future public health leaders in Africa. This 12-month programme offers advanced training in leadership, health diplomacy, change management and policy influence. It is designed for senior public health professionals from African Union member states, offering a unique opportunity for professional development and global networking.
Programme components
1. High-level professional development : Fellows will benefit from 12 months of intensive professional development, mentored by experienced experts from Africa and the Diaspora. They will acquire advanced skills in negotiation, health policy, partnerships and health diplomacy.
2. Communication skills and media management : Participants will strengthen their skills in communicating effectively and managing different media platforms to deliver key messages across a range of agencies and contexts.
3. Personal Leadership and Resilience : The programme will help Fellows to better understand their personal leadership and career goals, while developing their resilience, flexibility and effectiveness.
4. Strategic visioning and influencing : Fellows will improve their ability to develop a viable strategic vision for ambitious health goals and to influence and empower others to achieve these goals.
5. Analysis of social, economic and political factors : Fellows will learn to analyse the factors influencing healthcare financing and economic security, while strengthening their personal and professional global networks.
6. In-depth knowledge of public health : Fellows will gain a solid understanding of key aspects of the history and principles of global public health, particularly those relating to the main political, economic and social aspects of public health in Africa.
Benefits
1. Full support : CDC Africa will provide all learning and development materials and cover all costs associated with the fellowship, including travel, per diem and insurance during residential placements.
2. Software support : Fellows will receive support to ensure that they have the appropriate software for online learning.
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must :
- Be a citizen of a Member State of the African Union,
- Have a postgraduate degree in a relevant field of public health,
- Have 10 years' professional experience in a public health field,
- Be employed full-time in a private or public institution in Africa,
- Have a good track record or demonstrate the potential for effective leadership in public health.
How do I apply ?
To apply, candidates must submit their application via the online form. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Required documents include :
- A letter of support from the current employer,
- Two letters of recommendation from reputable professionals,
- A personal statement (maximum 400 words) detailing the applicant's commitment to public health in Africa,
- A leadership challenge project proposal (maximum 400 words) describing a potential project that can be carried out within 12 months of the scholarship.
