Guinea is entering a new phase in its digital transformation. On 2 August, at the China-Africa Digital Cooperation Forum in Beijing, the country, represented by Rose Pola Pricemou, Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and the Digital Economy, signed a major partnership agreement with Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei. 

This ambitious partnership aims to accelerate the roll-out of digital infrastructure in Guinea, particularly in terms of broadband connectivity. It is part of Guinea's digital development strategy, for which the World Bank has provided $60 million in funding. 

For Huawei, this partnership is part of a wider regional drive to accelerate digital development in Africa and reduce the digital divide.

What are the concrete benefits for the Guinean population and the country's economy ?

Through this investment, millions of Guineans will be able to access better quality online services and benefit from increased economic opportunities. The aim is to develop e-government solutions to simplify administrative procedures and increase the efficiency of the public service. In the coming years, digital platforms, data centres and innovation spaces will be set up. 

To this end, there are plans to build the capacity of young people through training and research programmes in the ICT and digital fields.

Among other things, this investment will create jobs, stimulate the economy and improve the quality of life of Guineans.
