Social networks: Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger victims of a giant outage that has moved the entire planet

This Monday, October 4, 2021, is the disaster. The applications of the Facebook group were down for several hours, causing the users of the sites in question to be moved.

The social network Facebook and all its services were inaccessible around 5 pm. At the origin of this breakdown, a change of configuration made on some servers of the group which did not go well.

According to official sources (Facebook), this interruption of services went beyond the online platform. Within the company, Facebook teams had difficulty accessing work tools and infrastructure, as access badges were not functional.

With these platforms inaccessible, millions of Internet users turned to Twitter, one of the equally popular virtual social platforms. It was on Twitter that Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook Group, apologized to the public for this interruption and reassured them that his team was working to put things back in order.

The applications were finally restored the next day in the early hours of the morning. While Facebook wants to be reassuring about the preservation of users' online data, the fact remains that this outage raises the question of users' heavy dependence on Mark Zuckerberg's applications.

Users would certainly benefit from adopting alternative applications to Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger to avoid being completely left behind in the future.
