Meta strengthens the security of Whatsapp's PC version with a new plugin

Through the Code Verify plugin, Meta will be able to further secure chats and prevent them from being intercepted by third parties online.

This new extension ensures that the source code of the Whatsappweb application is not corrupted by verifying it with a reference code from Cloudfare. If the information received differs, then two options are possible :
- The plugin sends the user to an information page with instructions to follow ;
- The user is directly notified through an orange icon indicating to refresh the page or a red icon indicating a security issue.

The Code Verify extension is open source, which means that other companies can use it to increase the security level of their own applications. It is also available on several browsers : Mozilla Firefox, Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

Whatsapp is an instant messaging application that can be used on smartphones and computers and on which conversations are synchronized. Like the mobile version, the desktop version allows you to make audio and video calls, write or reply to messages, manage your personal or business page.
