Cybersecurity : password issues lead researchers to investigate alternative means of internet security
Logging into an account on the Internet without a password is an issue that interests many computer security experts.
For many hackers, hacking into accounts even though they are protected by passwords is the easiest thing in the world. Hence, cybersecurity experts are getting together to develop a password-free way to log in that would be better for everyone.
According to a recently released report by Enterprise Strategy Group and SecureAuth, 84% of IT experts believe that passwords should be set aside in favor of logging into accounts securely. They see biometrics and security keys (access points) as authentication solutions that can be used as alternatives to passwords.
Thus, to lower the level of dependence in their environment on passwords, many institutions are focusing on multi-factor authentication, including (physical) factors that could allow a computer system to verify a user's identity.
Overall, the issue of Internet security has become a major focus for IT professionals. It is all the more relevant as users (companies and individuals) are having their personal and banking data stolen, which is detrimental to their finances and their daily quality of life.
