Chrome 77 is there: personalization, security and page sharing are on the menu

The new version of Google's browser is launched on desktop. On the agenda: more protection and personalization for users.

Chrome 77 is now available on Windows, Mac and Linux. You can now update your browser or download it from the usual certified sources.

When you start for the first time, the home page invites you to further customize your experience, which requires you to spend a few minutes setting up the browser. In particular, it is possible to add bookmarks to Google applications such as Gmail in the address bar.

Do you share pages

Chrome 77 introduces a new way to share pages with other devices. You can send a link directly from the address bar where the "Send this page" device icon appears, or by right-clicking on a page, link or tab. Choose the device to which you want to send the page, validate and, a few seconds later, a notification will be received by the target.

When you reload a page, an animation now appears and rotates around the tab icon. A clever way to evaluate the progress of the update at a glance.

For security purposes, the "Site Isolation" option protects against malicious sites that you may inadvertently visit and prevents them from stealing your data. In addition, external sites will now be able to request permission to access Internet users' contacts. It is up to you to choose the data you wish to communicate to them.

Chrome 77 is also being deployed on Android and iOS.
