Cameroonian startup House Innovation offers a mobile Coronavirus self-diagnosis application

If the Cameroonian authorities give their approval, the mobile application "SOS-Covid" from the Cameroonian startup House Innovation could be used in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19).

"SOS-Covid", explains the startup, is "an application that not only solves the problem of non-information of the population and self-diagnosis of individuals, but also the rapid and effective detection of the appearance of new cases that can be taken care of as quickly as possible thanks to the geolocation system integrated into the application".

Thanks to the application's "test" functionality, the patient is asked a list of questions based on the symptoms he or she has experienced. The answers are used to assess the patient's status. For example: "Do you think you have or have you had a fever in the last few days (shivering, sweating)? "Do you have a cough or an increase in your usual cough in the last few days? "For example, "In the last few days, have you noticed a marked decrease or loss of taste or smell? etc.", etc. After answering a series of questions, a probability result of having the coronavirus is displayed. A few tips are then given to the user.

Other functionalities of the mobile application include statistics (all cases of Covid-19 reported worldwide, the number of victims per State as well as the number of people cured of the epidemic), a toll-free number (a button below the test result allows, with a click, to automatically launch a call to the health emergencies in charge of managing the epidemiological crisis), awareness-raising (this section offers a panoply of measures to fight against the spread of the epidemic as well as practical videos), etc.

House Innovation adds that its application has an added value; namely, the possibility to map the zones of infection in order to limit movements to and from these zones.
