Call for expressions of interest Cameroon-CAFI

As part of the CAFI-Cameroon Partnership, the Cameroon Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development (MINEPAT) and CAFI (Central African Forest Initiative Trust Fund) are launching a Call for Expressions of Interest (C.E.I.) to select implementing organizations for three pre-identified projects in the start-up phase of the CAFI-Cameroon Partnership.

What is the start-up phase ?

This is the 3-year pilot phase (2023-2026), comprising four projects, three of which are open to this AMI :    
- Project for integrated management of the Grand Mbam priority landscape, which will be implemented
to strengthen decentralized capacities for: regional planning and governance of natural resources,

- Spatial planning project, which will consolidate and strengthen the work in progress by several ministries, supported in particular by German Cooperation and the European Union, on participatory spatial planning, European Union on participatory land-use planning, mapping and monitoring and monitoring of land use and land-use change,

- Pilot program to support sustainable agricultural intensification and agro-ecological transition
which will enable the design and deployment of a direct support mechanism for producers
producers through the "Fonds de développement des filières Cacao et Café".

Implementing organizations selected following this call for expressions of interest will be asked to prepare complete project documents in line with CAFI's and Cameroon's expectations prior to actual implementation in the field. 

 

 

Project eligibility criteria 

This AMI is open to the following entities : 
1. Agencies of the United Nations System and the World Bank;
2. The following eligible Non-United Nations Organizations (NONUs):
a. International Cooperation Organizations (e.g. KFW, Enabel, AFD, GIZ, USAID, JICA, SNV, etc.);
b. International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) or international research institutes (not-for-profit), provided they meet the following criteria :
- Have a collaboration agreement with Cameroon, or are in the process of obtaining such an agreement, or are committed to obtaining one, as they are able to present all the characteristics required to do so;
- Have carried out projects with a total cost of at least 6 to 10 million USD in Cameroon or in the Congo Basin region over the last 5 years (corresponding to the estimated budget of the project considered by the bidder, cf. Appendix 1). Equivalent experience in other tropical regions may also be considered.

An information session open to participants was held on June 8, and answers to the questions asked are available on the CAFI website: www.cafi.org. The deadline for receipt of expressions of interest is June 23, 2023, 17:00 GMT.
