PALLITRACKS

Web-based forest management and traceability application

Key principle &

Partner in good forest governance
Data mastery is the first step towards sustainable and responsible forest management. Pallitracks was designed with this objective in mind, based on the requirements of forest management, legality, and certification such as FSC and OLB.

For this reason, companies, institutions and governments concerned with good forest governance quickly adopted the application as a working tool. Apart from the private sector, Pallitracks is currently involved in projects funded by institutions such as :

How it works

De manière résumée, l’application s’articule autour des points suivants :

  • Simplifying forest data collection
  • Automatically monitor and audit data
  • Easy sharing of information
  • Fully trace the resource
  • Valuing conservation, assessing losses, and improving investment
  • Ensure legality and facilitate certification

Simplifying forest data collection

Each company selects the most suitable approach for its budget and its staff.

There are 3 possibilities :

  • Traditional : Paint and hammer marking, paper + manual encoding
  • Digital : Smartphone + barcode or RFID tags
  • Mixed

Automatically monitor and audit data

Example: an alert is triggered for the manager as soon as 80% of the withdrawal authorisations are reached.

Automated systems help to ensure compliance with legal and certification requirements, depending on the case :

  • Control at entry (blocking or warning)
  • Analysis after entry, with request for corrective action
  • Automatic alert sent to the right person

Easy sharing of information

Information is available to all authorised persons with various levels of access :

  • Clients as part of due diligence
  • Authorities in the context of controls and legal reporting obligations
  • Certifiers and auditors
  • Colleagues in the case of product exchange

Fully trace the resource

In addition, all interactions ( consult, modify and delete) between users and the data are also traced.

The application covers all the activities of the wood industry to guarantee complete traceability :

  • Inventory
  • Evacuation and export
  • Tracking
  • Felling
  • Skidding
  • Forest preparation
  • Rolling
  • Park activity
  • Customer reception and marketing
  • Processing from 1st to 3ᵉ
  • Billing
  • Financial analysis

Valuing conservation, assessing losses, and improving investment

NB: Pallitracks integrates the Chaudé formula used in Morocco and all cubage rates used in Africa.

Pallitracks integrates and simplifies the following measurements :

  • The estimated volume of standing trees based on the cubing rate
  • The volume of carbon sequestered while these trees are not harvested, information that can be shared to show how responsible harvesting helps the forest regenerate
  • Any material losses in the chain of custody. This can guide the company's investments towards optimising the resource

Ensure legality and facilitate certification

Once the documents have been uploaded, they can be shared with the appropriate entities and the application helps to ensure that they are up to date.

The application has a directory of documents that can be organised according to the standard to be met :

  • Legality
  • Certification (OLB, FSC)
  • Due diligence
