A PS5 Pro could be developed by Sony. In an interview for Game Informer magazine, Executive Vice President of Hardware Engineering Masayasu Ito said a Pro version of the PS5 could be released midway through the console's life cycle, in 2023.

The Playstation 5 is not yet here, and yet Sony's future console is already crystallizing all the attention, as evidenced by the imminent opening of the PS5's preorders at many retailers. On December 3, 2019, Sony celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Playstation. For the occasion, Game Informer magazine published a major interview focusing on the history of the console. Among the speakers were the key managers of Sony Interactive Entertainment, led by President Jim Ryan.

In the PS4 Pro section, Executive Vice President of Hardware Engineering Masayasu Ito says that Sony's strategy with the PS4 Pro could be extended with the PS5: "In the past, the life cycle for a new platform was 7 to 10 years. But given the very rapid development and evolution of technology, it is more a question of a six- to seven-year cycle. And on top of that, we can't fully keep up with this rapid development of technology," he says.
