The National Program for the Development of Forest Plantations (PNDF), which officially launched its activities on July 23, 2021, has the ambition to produce, from 2045, the bulk of the 2.5 million m3 of wood that Cameroon puts on the market each year.

"In the long term, it will enable the country to replace its wood supply, which consists almost entirely of wood from natural forests, with wood from planted forests," explains Anicet Ngomin, the Director of Forests.

To achieve this performance over the next 25 years, the PNDF needs a total of 12,893 billion CFA francs. This investment will contribute to the achievement of the objective of restoring 12 million hectares of forests affected by deforestation and degradation due to, among other things, the construction of development infrastructures or agro-industries.

This represents more than half of the 22 million hectares of forest that Cameroon has, or more than 46% of its territory.
