Microsoft launches the African Development Center (ADC)

Microsoft launches its first Development Centre for Africa on May 14, 2019 in Nairobi, Kenya and on May 17, 2019 in Lagos, Nigeria.

On the social level: it is a vast progressive recruitment of African talent, i.e. 100 African engineers by the end of 2019 and 500 engineers on the 2 sites and from all over the continent by the end of 2023; these engineers will work to create solutions for local and global impacts in the fields of artificial intelligence, automatic learning and innovation in mixed reality. If this vast recruitment of 500 engineers is a godsend for African talent, it is nevertheless a threat to African companies through the brain drain, the high competition on the software market.

On the economic front: MICROSOFT claims to invest $100 million over the first 5 years of its existence.
