iPhone 12: the first shells are already available!
The iPhone 12 will not be unveiled for several weeks. However, several accessories manufacturers have already put online the first shells compatible with the standard iPhone 12 with 5.4-inch screen. These protections offer a new insight into the design of this new generation of iPhone. As expected, Apple was strongly inspired by the design of the iPhone 4.
Apple recycles the design of the iPhone 4
In order to develop their accessories in time, manufacturers probably relied on the iPhone manufacturing schematics, provided directly by Apple. The shells are compatible with the compact iPhone 12 with a 5.4-inch screen. Note that some of the shells produced place the Lidar scanner (the third sensor) on the back of the smartphone. Others rely instead on a dual photo sensor. Accessorists have obviously not obtained precise information about the photo set up. This information does not influence the production of the cases.
Similarly, the accessories did not obtain any information about the width of the notch. So it is not yet known whether Apple will be using a smaller notch this year or whether the iPhone X style notch will be back again. However, the shells do feature an angular metal frame similar to that of the iPhone 4. As expected, Apple is recycling the design of its old flagship.
The last news, Apple has decided to postpone the launch of the iPhone 12 to October 2020. Following the Covid-19 pandemic, the Cupertino firm has indeed accumulated a delay in its production schedule. The keynote presented by Tim Cook should therefore take place on October 13, 2020. We will tell you more as soon as possible. While waiting for more information on the iPhone 12, do not hesitate to give your opinion in the comments below.
