Honor unveils the 9X Pro, a very promising smartphone... without Google's services.
Between a new laptop and new straps for his connected watch, Honor announced the French launch of the 9X Pro, a mid-range smartphone equipped with the Kirin 810 processor.
At 249 euros, the Honor 9X Pro could have won the bid. The new smartphone from the Huawei subsidiary unfortunately suffers from a major problem: it is deprived of Google services. The apps for this smartphone will have to be downloaded from the AppGallery... which could greatly reduce the potential customer base. Despite the crisis and his conversion to connected objects, Honor doesn't seem ready to draw a line under smartphones yet.
A new processor
The new Honor 9X Pro is equipped with the Kirin 810. Engraved in 7 nm, this mid-range processor has never been integrated into a smartphone launched in France (it was already used in China, especially with the 9X Pro available there for many months). Its finer engraving (7 versus 12 nm) should bring significant improvements compared to its predecessor, the Kirin 710, especially in terms of power consumption, which is better controlled. Honor also refers to his 9X Pro as a smartphone designed for gaming.
Other improvements in this new generation include the addition of a fingerprint sensor on the side (rather than the back) and a liquid cooling system. The Honor 9X Pro retains some of the features of the first 9X, such as its pop-up camera and its full edge-to-edge screen (no notches or punches).
Marketed in March at 249 euros, the Honor 9X Pro could have been a serious candidate for the title of best entry-level smartphone. The lack of Google services unfortunately disqualifies it in advance ... Note that Honor will also soon launch its View 30 Pro in Europe, its new flagship. He too will not be entitled to Google services.
