iPads may soon become real developer machines

A new revelation from serial leaker Jon Prosser suggests that Apple may launch its Xcode development environment on iOS and iPadOS next June.

As iPads continue to evolve into machines that can replace our laptops, a new milestone could be reached very soon. According to a tweet from Jon Prosser, twittos and serial leaker, Apple is preparing for the arrival of XCode on iOS and iPadOS 14.

The information is important because it would mean that Apple's tablet (and maybe even the iPhone) could become a development platform, just like a MacBook Pro.

XCode is the reference environment to develop programs in the Apple universe, it is compatible with Swift, the home language of the Cupertino firm but also with more common languages like C++ or Python. At the moment, it only runs on MacOs. The arrival of XCode on iPadOS would be a big step forward towards the disappearance of the boundaries of use between Apple's different ranges of personal machines.

It could also be the beginning of the arrival of other professional applications developed by Apple, some of which have been dreaming of a Final Cut Pro for a long time.

As of 2018, iPad Pro is reputed to be as powerful as many laptops on the market, they are also more versatile than many classic machines, yet they still lack a few attributes to become real competitors to our ultra-portables. The keyboard and trackpad issue has been resolved recently. It now seems that Apple has decided to fix the iPad's biggest weakness, advanced software and uses.
