The Single Window of Cameroon modernizes its electronic payment platform
During a meeting held last Friday in the city of Douala, the Single Window of Cameroon (GUCE) presented its new electronic payment scheme whose objective is to simplify the procedures concerning operations related to foreign trade.
In the presence of many guests such as banks, companies operating in electronic money, economic operators from foreign countries whose goods transit through Cameroon among others, the new features were unveiled. They are related to :
- The architecture of the site,
- Pricing,
- The payment of duties, taxes and service charges related to imported and exported products,
- The creation of a certified value-added service,
- Product marketing strategy.
These innovations include credit card payment, account to account transfer, Wallet system, Mobile Money service. They offer many advantages because now users of the platform can perform their procedures remotely without having to travel. This saves them time and limits the human contact that is conducive to the spread of COVID-19.
Moreover, the increasing digitalization of the services offered by the GUCE favors shorter procedures, traceability of operations, and the security of financial data related to the various operations.
These advances highlight the interoperability between GIMAC (Groupement Interbancaire Monétique de l'Afrique Centrale), the GUCE and the Trust Pay Way. The collaboration between these entities aims at setting up a reliable and secure payment system in view of the increasing number of financial transactions. Indeed, from 2015 to August 2021, about 11 million transactions were recorded for a value of 494 billion CFA francs.
We hope that this initiative will bear fruit in the economic fabric of Cameroon and the sub-region in Central Africa.
