CAMEROON - Security: HUAWEI delivers a second video surveillance centre
Cameroon's Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute, has just inaugurated a video surveillance command centre in the Cameroonian capital. The infrastructure connected to a network of 2000 cameras out of the 7000 expected in the long term will be operated by the Cameroonian police.
This command centre was built by the Chinese firm Huawei, in partnership with Camtel, the country's incumbent telecom operator. This project was carried out as part of the construction of a national fibre optic backbone financed by Eximbank of China.
This is the second infrastructure of this type that Cameroon has received within a year. It will be recalled that in September 2018, the national gendarmerie had already received a Command Centre linked to 1500 video surveillance cameras installed throughout the country.
