AIMS offers scholarships to African students for training in Artificial Intelligence
(Agence Ecofin) - Developing AI to meet the current and future needs of Africa : this is the ambition of AIMS. The pan-African school is increasing the number of training courses accessible via a scholarship programme.
The African Institute of Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) is offering scholarships for a training programme in Artificial Intelligence (AI). This is a one-year intensive Master's level course targeting students in Africa.
To apply, they must have a bachelor's degree in mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering or recognised equivalent from an accredited institution.
Applicants must also have an interest or experience in AI, machine learning, and have a good knowledge of English, the language of instruction. Prior to being selected, they must commit to mentoring an undergraduate student at their previous institution during training and an AMMI (African Master's in Machine Intelligence) student after graduation.
Successful candidates will receive a full scholarship covering tuition fees, accommodation, meals and travel expenses.
The Master's course prepares participants to become researchers in machine learning by focusing on fundamental research in the field of AI as well as on the development of applications that meet current and future needs in Africa. In addition, the aim is to create a scientific community of machine learning specialists invested in Africa and the world.
The closing date for applications is Wednesday 31 August.
