The Women Techsters Fellowship programme focuses on the skills of African women in a context marked by the digitisation of services and products.

Through this programme, the Technology for Social Change and Development Initiative (Tech4Dev) aims to significantly reduce the digital divide between men and women on the African continent. The aim is to equip women with the skills they need for a career in the technology sector.

For this 3rd edition (class of 2024), 2014 women will benefit from six months of intensive training followed by a six-month refresher course and a period of mentoring. The beneficiaries are women from 35 African countries, including Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Cameroon, Zimbabwe and Zambia. Nigeria has the highest participation rate, with 1,669 women.

The themes in which the women will be acquiring skills include mobile development, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence engineering and blockchain. These disciplines are part of the technologies of the digital age and offer great potential in terms of access to employment.

Several cohorts will be set up over a period of seven years using standardised learning programmes in the above-mentioned fields, according to the organisation's official website.
